Frequently Asked Questions

A light jacket, walking shoes or boots, sunscreen, and a water please.

The village walk is a gentle stroll around the village of Nine Mile house for about 60 to 75 minutes. The other 2 walks are about 5 kms or 3 miles lasting about 2 to 2 and half hours. We stop and talk along the way but do be conscious of your ability and discuss it with me when booking if you have any concerns, please.

I do not have a set text for each walk. My goal is that the talking is more a conversation than me doing all the talking hoping that the subjects then will be more what the walkers are interested in. History particularly social history dating from 6,000 years ago up to now, folklore, mythology, geography, agriculture, belief systems and how people live in rural Ireland today are some of the areas we can touch on.

Yes, I can. Together we can put an itinerary together covering the subjects and areas that are of most interest to you. There is 100 kilometres/ 60 miles of lovely quiet country roads (boreens) and trails in our area with a story at every turn.

We do not bring dogs on the walks. The main reason is that we pass by private homes and the dogs in these houses are not bothered too much by us humans passing by their territory. When we had dogs along though, it caused great upset to the native dogs so we do not bring dogs. The one exception is when someone has an assistant dog, we will accommodate them.

You are welcome anytime. Slievenamon and Sliabh Dile have a story to tell every day of the year. Weather-wise you might get sunnier days between May and September but that is not a certainty. The Irish countryside will entertain you all year and you might need to vary your clothing a little.

With light rain the tour will go ahead. We can arrange an alternative date or a refund if the weather is extreme.

Yes. We will need to discuss what we can do beforehand.

Yes please, Walk With Walter is a new venture with 1 person involved. Booking is essential, this gives huge flexibility in what I can offer but my resources are limited.

Toilets are available in the villages.
