The Goldminer from Nine-Mile-House that struck it rich.
Tom Walsh was born in 1850 and got some of his rearing in Scully’s house the home of his aunt and uncle as his mother died while he was still a toddler.
The “Grand Inn” is that house and still stands today in excellent condition in Nine-mile-house. He emigrated to America when he was less than 20 and through many brilliant, ingenious, actions ended up discovering and owning the largest gold mine in the world in Ouray Colorado, during the early 1890s. Ouray is 11,000 feet above sea level on the east side of the Rockies. Walsh was exceptionally good to his miners and to his adopted land. The photo is taken in Ouray in 2023 at the mine in the Rockies which are over 5 times higher than Slievenamon.
The place where Tom Walsh struck it rich in Ouray, Colorado.
